The midfielder, who replaces Morgan Schneiderlin, has not been included in the starting XI since Boxing Day when the Red Devils suffered defeat to the same opposition
Michael Carrick will make his first start since Boxing Day for Manchester United against Stoke City.
The midfielder replaces Morgan Schneiderlin at the base of Louis van Gaal's midfield alongside Marouane Fellaini, while Matteo Darmian takes Guillermo Varela's spot at right-back.
Carrick was last included in the starting XI for the 2-0 defeat away to Stoke on December 26.
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson retains his place at left-back on his 19th birthday, with Chris Smalling and Daley Blind once again paired at centre-back.
Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Anthony Martial will play in support of lone striker Wayne Rooney, who has netted six goals in six games in 2016.
There is no place in the United squad for Adnan Januzaj though. The Belgian has been on the bench for the last two first-team fixtures but misses out after playing a full 90 minutes for United's under-21 side in their 2-0 loss to Everton at Finch Farm on Monday evening.
Mark Hughes names Xherdan Shaqiri among his Stoke substitutes as one of eight changes from the side which was knocked out of the FA Cup by Crystal Palace on Saturday.
