Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has named an inexperienced centre-back pairing of Ross Holding and Calum Chambers in his starting line-up to face Liverpool.
Playing without a recognised striker, Alexis Sanches starts up front, while Theo Walcott and Mohamed Elneny also make the cut.
Walcott gets the nod on the right wing, while Alex Iwobi will operate on the opposite flank, with Aaron Ramsey in the No. 10 position.
For the Reds, Sadio Mane, Gini Wijnaldum and Ragnar Klavan will all make their competitive debuts for Jurgen Klopp's side.
The trio all start at the Emirates, where Roberto Firmino will lead the line as Daniel Sturridge has an extended pre-season to build up his sharpness following a hip niggle.
Mane will play from the right of the attack, while Wijnaldum will partner captain Jordan Henderson in the centre of the park. Klavan will operate alongside Dejan Lovren in the heart of defence, with fellow new defender Joel Matip named in reserve.
Marko Grujic, who impressed in pre-season, is also amongst the substitutes and will hope to make his competitive bow for the Reds.
James Milner is kept out of the matchday squad as he nurses a bruised heel, which sees promising academy youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold, 17, earn a spot on the bench.
