The forward is sharp enough to be named among the substitutes at Anfield following a lengthy absence, while the Welsh midfielder is Jurgen Klopp's only change to the starting XI
Daniel Sturridge has been named in Liverpool’s matchday squad for the first time in two months, while Joe Allen is rewarded with a place in the starting line-up for the Premier League encounter against Sunderland.
The England striker last featured at Newcastle on December 6, where he picked up a hamstring injury before subsequently nursing several small muscle issues.
Sturridge returned to full training in midweek and has been sharp enough to be named among the substitutes.
Allen, who recorded two goals and an assist during January, is the only change to the first 11 that tackled Leicester on Tuesday, with Lucas dropping to the bench. The Welsh midfielder shook off a small knock to his shoulder to face Sunderland.
There will a difference in the dugout for Liverpool too, with manager Jurgen Klopp not present at Anfield due to a suspected bout of appendicitis. His coaching staff of Zeljko Buvac, Peter Krawietz, Pepijn Lijnders and John Achterberg will take charge on Saturday afternoon.
Mamadou Sakho, meanwhile, will play his 50th league game for the Reds.
