HOUSTON — Chris Wondolowski will get his shot at redemption.
The San Jose Earthquakes striker is one of three World Cup veterans earning their first starts of the Copa America Centenario in Tuesday's semifinal against Argentina at NRG Stadium, with Kyle Beckerman and Graham Zusi also entering the fold.
Wondolowski, who has only played 30 minutes for the U.S. since last summer's Gold Cup, gets the nod up top two years after famously missing a dangerous opportunity late in the Americans' loss to Belgium in the World Cup round of 16.
DeAndre Yedlin also starts after being suspended for the quarterfinal win over Ecuador, which saw Jermaine Jones, Alejandro Bedoya and Bobby Wood suspended for the semifinal because of cards.
Argentina, meanwhile, has made just one change for the lineup that defeated Venezuela in the quarterfinal, with Ezequiel Lavezzi stepping in for the suspended Nicolas Gaitan. Captain Lionel Messi makes his second start of the tournament up top, while Angel di Maria and Sergio Aguero are among the options on the bench.
Lineups in full:
USA: Guzan; Yedlin, Cameron, Brooks, Johnson; Zardes, Beckerman, Bradley, Zusi; Dempsey, Wondolowski
Argentina: Romero; Mercado, Otamendi, Funes Mori, Rojo; Fernandez, Mascherano, Banega; Messi, Higuain, Lavezzi
