The third generation Ford Focus RS has left its tire shredding abilities aside in a new video that focuses on its acceleration.

Using the Launch Control to make sure that the car doesn’t lose any second, the driver pushed the gas pedal to the metal and released the clutch, making the needle jump to around 35-40km/h (22-25mph) in the blink of an eye.

If 100km/h (62mph) would have been the target, then the hot hatch would have needed 4.7 seconds, however, in this case, the goal was to keep the throttle down until 200km/h (124mph).

Taking it there is a 345hp 2.3-liter four-pot EcoBoost mill, connected to a six-speed manual transmission that sends power to the Ford Performance AWD system. This uses twin electronically controlled clutch packs to split torque between front and rear axles and it can control the side-to-side distribution on the rear. Driving modes include Normal, Sport, Track and the marketed Drift Mode.

Ford has priced the new Focus RS from $35,730, however, this didn't stop an avid collector from paying a whopping $550,000 for an example, during a recent auction for charity. Considering that the blue oval hasn’t commenced customer deliveries yet, it is believed that the buyer has secured a spot for an early unit, however, this information hasn’t been confirmed.
