It should be one of the most memorable moments in TV this year.
NBC on Tuesday aired a sneak peek at an upcoming episode of the hit series This Is Us, which will presumably show the death of the Pearson family patriarch, Jack, played by Milo Ventimiglia.
Viewers of the show, which racked up two honors at the Screen Actors Guild Awards this past Sunday, were given a key hint during Tuesday's episode, as a slow-cooking crock pot in the home caught fire, paving the way for the storyline in the upcoming episode.

Other hints alluding to the Pearson family tragedy in previous episodes included Rebecca Pearson, played by Mandy Moore, weeping outside the charred remains of the home; and a shot of a smoke detector without any batteries.
The sneak peek for the Super Bowl episode flashed through a montage of emotionally-charged moments throughout the NBC family drama, including Jack telling Kevin, 'When I held you for the first time, right here in this hospital, it hit me like a bolt of lightingyou were my purpose Kevin.'
In another sequence, Rebecca told Jack, 'You are the strongest person I know.'
And as Jack courageously faced the flames engorging his home, he's heard saying, 'Take a deep breath, take a deep breath, OK?'
Ventimiglia, speaking with Entertainment Weekly about the Pearson family calamity, stated that his character's demise is 'just an absolute soul-crushing event.

'Once you figure out the moment where it’s going to happen, you may get some hopeand then it’s all going to go away,' he told the publication. 'I think the best thing I can sayor the worst thing I can sayis, it’s going to be f***ing painful.'
The actor told the publication that it's been an awkward topic when he's approached by fans of the show looking for spoilers about Jack.
'It’s very respectful as well as kind because I don’t want to sit there and deflect too much, because I’m sure at some point someone’s going to say something that’s going to ring true, and then my talent as an actor is really going to come to the forefront,' he told the magazine. 'It’s the hardest position to be in, because I want people to know, but I also want them to wait for it.'
The episode will air after Super Bowl LII on NBC on Sunday, February 4.
