Meanwhile, the federal government has justified the ultimatum it issued to Nigerians mandating them to link their SIM cards to the National Identity Numbers (NIN) or risk disconnection.
Isa Pantami, the minister of communication and digital economy stated that the government gave everyone about 12 months to complete the exercise.
According to The Guardian, the minister told Channels TV that several Nigerians refused to comply with the government’s directive when it was issued in February 2020.
