Tommy Mottola in an open letter published on Wednesday urged ex-wife Mariah Carey to upgrade her staff with 'more seasoned and respected professionals'.
The 67-year-old music executive also criticised her decision to embark on a reality show in the letter published by Page Six.
Mottola penned the letter following Carey's disastrous New Year's Eve performance in New York City's Times Square.

The letter opened with high praise for Carey who Mottola married in 1993 and divorced in 1997.
He then mentioned the NYE performance in which Carey left in a huff after technical glitches marred it.
'What happened on NYE could've happened to anyone! Yes, her technical people should've helped pay more attention to all of it so that there was no chance of that happening,' Mottola wrote.
He then took a crack at her support staff.

'My only advice is that she should hire more seasoned and respected professionals to surround her and help her with her career!,' he wrote before denouncing her E! network reality show Mariah's World.
'I would never have encouraged her or guided her to do something like a reality television show!!!!! I don't get it!! That does absolutely nothing for her integrity, her credibility, or her massive talent!!,' Mottola wrote.
The former Sony Music Entertainment head then urged Carey to reflect on her future.

'She should take a step back, think carefully and figure out what to do next. That is what she does best.. most certainly none of these issues or problems ever existed with her in her early days at Sony for the first 10 years when she skyrocketed to global superstardom!!,' he wrote.
Mottola added that Sony paid 'absolutely meticulous and methodical attention' to detail to help Carey early in her career.
He added that critics 'should just get off her back and leave her the hell alone and hopefully she will find her way to the right professionals for guidance. It's never about the fall, it's all about the recovery.'

Carey's manager Stella Bulochnikov responded to the letter.
'Really? Tommy is a relic. Did he give you that statement from a rotary phone?,' she responded.
