With the Nissan Juke Nismo in its sight, Toyota could introduce a performance version of the C-HR.
The info comes from the small crossover's lead engineer, Hiro Koba, who told Autocar magazine that while an official decision has yet to be taken, "I am pushing to make such a car. I need to get approval."

Adding a more powerful Toyota C-HR to the lineup can prove to be tricky, as the brand's Senior Manager, Rembert Serrus, said, while remaining optimistic about such a model: "It would be possible, but it depends on how much we have to change. A sports version could be a minor change or it could be a new project. A sports version would make a lot of sense."

Toyota already has a racing C-HR, which will compete in the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring next month, but it seems that a high-performance variant, for street use, could be influenced by the public's reaction to it. Nevertheless, if it will be green lighted, then it could be influenced by the racer in terms of exterior design and powertrain, adding a modified interior, heavier steering, better brakes and improved suspension.
