For the first time, Toyota has produced over 2 million cars in North America on the back of an improving local economy, lower fuel prices and strong customer demand for Toyota's staple models.

Eight different locations across North America produce Toyota models and collectively, they built 2,035,028 vehicles the previous year. Those cars are made up of 14 different Toyota models consisting of the Avalon, Camry, Corolla, Highlander, RAV4, Scion iA, Sequoia, Sienna, Tacoma, Tundra, Lexus RX 350, Lexus ES 350, Venza and Yaris.

Of Toyota's eight production locations in North America, six are owned by the automaker while one (responsible for producing the Camry) is run by Subaru Indiana Automotive and Mazda's Mexican plant produces the Toyota Yaris alongside the Scion iA.

Toyota's final production numbers are 2 per cent above the 1,985,501 vehicles it produced in North America during 2014.

Beyond a record number of vehicles being built, Toyota's North American facilities created 1,933,702 engines the previous year.
