When the referee dropped his card in the act of sending Luis Cavanda off, Dursun seized his opportunity by picking up the card, waving it at the referee with one hand while pointing Bitnel towards the tunnel with the other.

The Turkish referee was less than impressed with the defender's impudence, grabbing the card back before officially sending him off.

The incident is not the first time the Turkish club have been involved in a surreal scandal with a referee.

Late last year the president of Turkey had to personally intervene to ensure the release of a football referee who had been taken hostage by the president of Trabzonspor.

Ibrahim Hacıosmanoğlu ordered his team to lock the referee and his fellow match officials in the team's dressing room after the team were denied a penalty in their 2-2 draw with Gaziantepspor.

Referee, Çağatay Şahan, and his four colleagues were finally released from their stadium captivity at 4am under the supervision of special forces after Turkey president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, called Hacıosmanoğlu to demand they be allowed to leave the stadium.
