The Election Petitions Tribunal hearing matters arising from the 2015 general election has dismissed the petitions filed by candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the elections of two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers at the Osun State House of Assembly.

The APC candidate in Ife Central and Ife East Constituencies: Adetilewa Sijuwade and Basiru Adeyela respectively had prayed the tribunal to nullify the elections of the PDP lawmakers: Mr. Oladejo Makinde from Ife Central and Mr. Akinwole Akinwale representing Ife East based on allegations of corrupt practices and non-compliance with the Electoral Act.

In his judgement, the Chairman of the three-man panel, Justice A.G. Kwajaffa, held that the petitioners failed to prove the allegations contained in the petitions.

He subsequently dismissed the petition for lacking in merit.

Counsels for the petitioners and defendants commended the tribunal.
