The Nigerian Army on Tuesday stated it had neutralised 23 Boko Haram fighters and recovered weapons throughout its clearance operation in villages within the Lake Chad area.
Spokesman for the military, Brig.-Gen. Texas Chukwu, stated many terrorists escaped with gunshot accidents throughout the encounter with troops on Monday.
He stated that the operation was carried out by troops of 153 Task Force Battalion together with the help of its Cameroonian Defence Forces counterpart.
He listed objects recovered throughout the operation to incorporate six AK 47 rifles, two FN rifles, eight AK 47 rifle magazines, 33 rounds of seven.62 mm NATO ammunition, one hyperlink of seven.62mm NATO and two bikes.
He also stated that the troops had earlier cleared quite a few villages within the Lake Chad area, together with Bulakeisa, Tumbuma Babba, Abbaganaram and Dan Baure, amongst others.
