The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has fired 94 of its officials, including referees, following the failed attempt to remove Recep Tayyip Erdogan as president last month.
Members of the military launched the coup on July 15 but Erdogan's government was able to re-take power the next day, with exiled religious and political figure Fethullah Gulen subsequently accused of its planning, though he has strongly protested his innocence.
The TFF did not explain the sackings, which were announced on Tuesday, but Turkish newspaper Hurriyet reports that one of those dismissed was a Super Lig referee.
"Our federation deemed it necessary to dismiss 94 people, including regional and nationally-ranked referees and assistant referees, regional refereeing committee members and national and regional observers," a TFF statement reads.
According to AFP, all members of committees affiliated to the TFF resigned over the weekend ahead of a "security inspection" of individuals' links to the Gulen movement.
Atletico Madrid on Tuesday when they announced they had called off a friendly against Galatasaray.
