Two Malaysian women have been flogged in front of 100 people for attempting lesbo activities in a car parked in a public place.
Famzn News gathered that Malaysia, a Muslim-majority country, routinely persecutes members of the lesbo, gay and transgender community.
The Malaysian women, who had pleaded guilty in August to attempting lesbo s3x, were sentenced to a fine and six lashing of the cane.
As stated by a report by New Straits Times, the sentence was carried out in front of about 100 people at the Sharia High Court in Terengganu.
A member of the Terengganu state executive council, Satiful Mamat, told Reuters that this was the first conviction for same-s3x relations.
He said: “Sharia criminal procedure allows the court to determine where the sentence will be carried out and requires that it must be witnessed by a number of other Muslims.”
“The reason it is carried out in public is for it to serve as a lesson to society,” he also said.
Reacting to the caning of the lesbo women, Amnesty International said it marked “an appalling day” for human rights in Malaysia.
“To inflict this brutal punishment on two people for attempting to engage in consensual, same-s3x relation is an atrocious setback on the government’s efforts to improve its human rights records,” Rachel Chhoa-Howard, the group’s Malaysia researcher, said.
