Two South African women, Cynthia Mosupi and Sharon Gulu Thwala have been sentenced to 18 and 14 years in prison for burning a school girl to death.
The women reportedly attacked the school girl because she was dating Mosupi’s ex-boyfriend.
Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela passed this verdict at the High Court in Pretoria on Monday.
The Citizen reports that Mosupi, 24 and Thwala, 25, were sentenced to 18 years and 14 years respectively fo kidnapping and slaying a school girl identified as Boitumelo Dlamini.
It was gathered that the women kidnapped Dlamini just outside Eletra Secondary School where she was writing her matriculation exams, took her to the bushes near Klipgat cemetery, doused her with petrol before setting her ablaze.
The video where the school girl pleaded frantically to be set free was presented as evidence in court.
As stated by the video, Dlamini promised to leave Mosupi’s ex-boyfriend but her pleas fell on deaf ears as they still went ahead to kill her.
Before her death, the video also revealed how she was assaulted and warned to stay away from the man.
The judge said the schoolgirl appeared weak and helpless and was not putting up a fight, instead she was trying to escape.
