The Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and his counterparts in Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo states on Monday paid their last respect to the late elder statesman, Alex Ekwueme whose remains arrived in the state for the final burial rites.
Also present to witness his laying to rest were other leaders from the South East region.

The remains arrived at the Akana Ibiam Airport at about 2:10 pm from Abuja where it had landed from London, United Kingdom earlier in the day.
Family members, cabinet members and top government functionaries including the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo were on standby to witness the parade of honour of the former Vice-president.
Ekwueme died on November 19, 2017 at a London Hospital after battling with what the family described as a chest infection.
He was the first elected Vice-President of Nigeria and was in office from 1979 to 1983.
