The UK has agreed to send £10.5m to Nigeria to help it fight the rising threat posed by trafficking and similar vices.

President Muhammadu Buhari and UK Prime Minister Theresa May signed the deal on Wednesday as the latter visited Abuja.

May also pledged the UK’s resolve to send military help to Nigeria as it battles with Boko Haram insurgents and other terror attacks.

The security deal will see the UK training the Nigerian Military to counter the use of improvised explosive devices by insurgents.

It will also cover the provision of equipment to fight off the terrorists.

Famzn News gathered that the £10.5m package to support victims of trafficking will see the UK give counseling to about 1,700 persons who have suffered from forced counseling, domestic and s3xual abuse.

“We are determined to work side by side with Nigeria to help them fight terrorism, reduce conflict and lay the foundations for the future stability and prosperity that will benefit us all,” May said.

Since 2015, the UK has trained 30,000 Nigerian troops as part of its bilateral relationship with the West African country.
