An Abuja reporter, Lambert Tyem, has died at the National Hospital, Abuja, after suffering a stroke.
Tyem, until his death, worked with the Union Newspaper. He died on today after he failed to regain consciousness from a coma he lapsed to on Sunday night.
He was stated to have suffered serious head injury from the stroke, leading to his death.
He was initially rushed to Asokoro General Hospital, when he fell ill, but the hospital reportedly declined to admit him, citing lack of bed space.
A family friend who, did not want his name in print, stated he was subsequently taken to the National Hospital, where he was admitted in the Accident and Emergency ward.
Tyem, who was prominent on the crime and security beat, was last seen on Saturday during the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Abuja council elections.
The deceased hailed from Langtang South, Plateau State. He is survived by a wife and a daughter.
