Virgil van Dijk says he is “very confident” Ronald Koeman will snub reported interest from Everton and stay put at Southampton.
Koeman has been strongly linked with the Everton post following Roberto Martinez's sacking on Thursday.
The Dutchman, who has just one year remaining on his deal, looks set to guide Southampton to a second consecutive top-seven finish in the Premier League since arriving in 2014.
Reports suggest Everton are poised to make a move for Koeman but Van Dijk is almost certain he will remain on the south coast.
"I think he has done an amazing job so far,'' Van Dijk said.
"Hopefully we can do it next year as well and then it is about him and the club and what he wants to do.
"If we do well and we are going to progress and then hopefully do better than we do this year then I am very confident he will stay.''
Southampton, who face Crystal Palace in their final game of the season on Sunday, could finish fifth if they manage to win and both Manchester United and West Ham lose to Bournemouth and Stoke City respectively.
