Supporters of the Red Devils were challenged with the names of two of their star summer signings with predictably hilarious consequences
Footballers are often derided for being rather slow-witted, but how about the supporters? ChelseaFansChannel put some Manchester United fans’ spelling ability to the test, asking them to spell the surnames of summer signings Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan – names that were often on the back of their own shirts. Many struggled with the task – and one even suggested that Ibra was Bulgarian in the process. While this led to a great deal of mirth, the irony of the channel taking a prod at Red Devils’ fans yet failing to correctly identify the letter ‘M’ was, in fact, the correct way to start Mkhitaryan’s name was not lost on this writer.
