From Leroy Sane and Michy Batshuayi to Granit Xhaka and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the new Premier League season will see a host of big-money arrivals attempting to make an immediate impression with their new clubs.
All of the new signings will be hoping to hit the ground running this weekend but every transfer can lead to a period of adaptation during which a signing will be desperate to meet the expectations of their new fans.
And Costa Rica international Kendall Waston is all too aware of the difficulties in move to a new club after making a number of loan switches before settling at Vancouver Whitecaps FC in MLS.
“Sometimes it's difficult to adapt. First of all there’s the language, if you don't speak English, it's difficult,” he told Goal exclusively.
“But getting in a different culture, adapting to a different climate sometimes it could be difficult but that depends on any player.”
And ahead of the weekend’s big kick-off, Watson underlined the importance of any new player making an encouraging start to life with a new club.
“The first game always is very special because everybody's excited about the game,” he said.
“It's very nice to see the people in the stadium cheering for us and the excitement in that game always is bigger than usual."
