Joe Allen's birthday may be in March, but the Welsh midfielder received a birthday wish from a Stoke City team-mate on Christmas Day.

Club joker Jon Walters is not the first person to notice Allen's similar appearance to Jesus Christ, but he got in on the joke on December 25, tweeting his team-mate to wish him a Happy Birthday, writing "Best wishes to Joe Allen on his birthday today @Jesus"

Allen, was once dubbed the 'Welsh Xavi' by then-Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, and embraced the moniker, just like he did when compared to Jesus during Euro 2016.
The 26-year-old is often sent memes and internet jokes of these comparisons, but admits that he takes it on the chin, and has seen many mocking images at this stage of his career.
"[I've seen] the good the bad and the ugly!" Allen told the Daily Mail. "Probably more bad and ugly than good!
"I have to say there's been a few things sent my way that's had me crying with laughter. The biblical references of recent times have been quite funny. I have got a sense of humour."
