Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has assured that he will always be guided by the fear of God in governing the state, saying he has learnt that without submitting to God’s leading, a lot of mistakes will be made.
He also stated that drawing from his past experience, appointing people into positions without God’s directive always lead to regrets.
He made this pledge during a closed-door meeting with political appointees in Ado-Ekiti.
A statement released yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, revealed that the governor also said transparency in the running of the affairs of the state had been his main strength.
He, therefore, charged the new appointees to let that be their watchwords in their offices too.
Fasoye said: “I have learnt a great lesson from things that happened in the past and now want God to choose for me. Some people, who, as a human being, you will think are trustworthy, may end up stabbing you in the back.
“See your appointment as divine and luck, which must not be over-stretched. To whom much is given, much is expected. I charge you to be the collective image-makers of the administration and defend it.
“You should be hardworking and honest as they are the watchwords of this administration. As the state governor, I have demonstrated transparency by putting everything coming to the state on the table for all to see.
“I put the fear of God first and consult God before making any appointment. I have learnt from the past and now want God to choose for me. That is why I am unpredictable to people.”
On the coming local government elections, the governor said he had no vested interest in any aspirant and that nobody should go about to drop his name to solicit support.
