Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke says he expects Mats Hummels' future at the club to be decided next week.
Dortmund revealed last month that Hummels, who has just one year left on his contract, wants to leave and join rivals Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
However in a fresh twist, Hummels has since slammed the club for releasing a “sh**** statement”, claiming he is yet to make a call on his future.
Speculation has been rife regarding the situation but Watzke believes it will come to an end sometime next week.
"The decision is up to him, the ball is in his court," he told Sky.
"I think he will decide soon. I believe that decision will come during the next week."
Hummels began his career at Bayern before switching to Dortmund after a successful loan spell and has gone on to become an integral part of the club's recent successes, winning two Bundesliga titles.
