Amnesty International, a London-based non-governmental organization focused on human rights, has kicked against the arrest of over 100 female Pro-Biafra protesters in Owerri, the Imo state capital.
Famzn News gathered that the women were protesting the disappearance of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, when they were picked by the security operative and subsequently charged to court.
Apparently displeased with the arrest, AI, in a tweet on Thursday, August 23 on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, said it has begun an investigation in the arrest of the protesters,
The London-based non-governmental organization noted that protest is a human right and not a treason.
AI posted on Twitter: “Amnesty International is investigating disturbing arrest of 114 women peaceful protesters in #Owerri #Imo state, #Nigeria: #ProtestIsNotTreason #ProtestIsAHumanRight”.
