The Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD), Maj.-Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi has come out to say that Boko Haram insurgents will never hold any part of the country again.
Olusegun revealed this as he reviewed the progress of the ongoing counter-insurgency operation of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the northeast on Friday in Maiduguri.
According to him, the military has successfully reduced the group, from the terrorist gathering they used to be, to just mere criminals, after their 2015 defeat.
He added that Boko Haram’s attempt to retake any territory in Nigeria is a dream that will never come to pass for them.
His words, “In 2015; immediately President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office he gave order that all military commands be relocated to Maiduguri.
“It was only then that the military commenced attacks on the insurgents, recapturing the territories under the control of the terrorists numbering over 24 towns and villages.”
