****The Chairman and Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Colonel Muhammad Abdallah (Rtd) says the agency cannot afford to remain static in its war against drug abuse, therefore its merchants require more strategies.
“We cannot afford to remain static for the fact that the drug criminals are the most dynamic creatures. this is exemplified by the unfathomable modes of drug concealment that we continue that we continue to uncover on a daily basis.
“Drug control itself is also experiencing a paradigm shift in most parts of the world. While we dwell in the realm of disrupting the activities of drug merchants more advanced.
In realisation of this renewed strategy, Command officers of the agency are looking into various ways of developing the agency’s strategies for effective implementation of government drug law policy that will disrupt, dismantle as well as defeat drug merchants antics and drug abuse in the society.
The bi-annual command officers’ conference of the NDLEA where Senior officers of the agency gathered to review its strategy towards the implementation of government policy on drug control as well looking at its shortcomings, pitfalls and needed improvement as the enforcement agency is ongoing at the Regional Academy for Drug Control, Jos, Plateau State.
Some of the issues being discussed at the conference include modern trends in law enforcement and review of criminal justice in Nigeria, implementation of intelligence-led operations and drug demand reduction, among others.
In their various addresses at the conference, Governments of Plateau and Nasarawa States discussed issues concerning the effects of drugs on youths and ways of collaborating with the agency in fighting the menace of drug abuse.
