Arsene Wenger has revealed the extent of the club's defensive injury crisis.
Speaking to the press ahead of the clubs' Premier League opener against Liverpool, the Gunners boss indicated that Per Mertesacker and Gabriel will both face lenghty spells on the sidelines.
“Mertesacker is out for four months and Gabriel six to eight weeks, which is a bit better than expected because he doesn’t need surgery," he said.

“He ruptured his ankle ligament. At the start we thought it could be four months.”
