Last week, news went viral online that Nigerian actor, Hanks Anuku, who now lives in Ghana, was arrested by Ghanaian authorities. Many insinuations concerning the reason for the arrest has been flying around, but Box Office has finally got the official story behind it.
Our source stated Hanks and a popular production crew in Ghana were shooting a movie and were acting out a robbery scene. The outfit had failed to get necessary permits to shoot the scene which involved guns and fire before embarking on the shoot. During the movie shoot, residents thought the actors were actual armed robbers and alerted the police, who swooped in to arrest members of the film cast and crew including Hanks. They were all later released.
A Ghanaian news site quoted the Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, “These people did not have any permit from the lawful authority and went ahead to wilfully obstruct public way and hinder the free passage of persons and vehicles, as well as causing fear and panic.”
As we speak, Hanks has been released and back on set.
