The cash recovered from ex NNPC GMD Andrew Yakubu
The Federal Government has assured that it's troublesome for recovered looted funds to be re-looted as mechanisms have been been put in place to keep away from such.
Director, Asset Recovery and Management Unit, Ministry of Justice, Ladidi Mohammed gave the peace of mind on Wednesday in Abuja throughout a residents’ dialogue on Post-Global Forum on Asset Recovery street map and asset restoration in Nigeria.
“As I speak, it is very difficult for anyone to re-loot any returned funds because as far as the Attorney-General of the Federation, and the entire government is concerned, there is no way that is going to happen,” she mentioned.
“I can tell you that there are different organizations in charge of recoveries, so in the whole system, there is no way that those assets, whether local or international will be re-looted.”
As said by her, “What I imply by that's that recovered monies usually are not like generated income that goes into the Federation Account or the Consolidated Revenue Fund.
“The workplace of the AGF initiated a depository account for each native and worldwide recoveries and people recovered funds go straight to the account which is domiciled on the Central Bank of Nigeria.
“It is a depository account that has no signatory and can't be touched till it's appropriated, it's a constitutional and worldwide subject.
“The AGF has put up each mechanism to stop re-looting, so I guarantee you that there isn't a worry that these recovered funds might be looted and the monies might be used for the nice of Nigerians.”
