Justice Adama Iyayi-Lamikanra
Following the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC) and subsequent approval of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Tuesday, sworn-in Justice Adama Iyayi-Lamikanra as the substantive chief judge of the state.
The governor used the ceremony to advise the judiciary not to be influenced by the antics of politicians, saying that they must uphold the rule of law at all times. The new chief judge, Adama Iyayi-Lamikanra is an indigene of Edo State.
Wike charged judges of the state judiciary to be courageous in their dispensation of justice, in line with the tenets of the law.
While assuring the judiciary of continued support, he iterated that he worked towards her emergence as the substantive chief judge, on the premise of laid- down precedents and traditions, despite petitions written by some persons against her, on the basis of her state of origin.
