Tiffany Two, which held the world's oldest cat living record, died on May 22 at 27 years, two months and 9 days old, Guinness World Records stated.
The cat, who was 125 years old in human years, was crowned oldest living cat by the Guinness Book of World Records in October 2014.
Tiffany Two spent her last night sleeping on a heated pad next to owner Sharon Voorhees, ABC News reported.
“And that is where she passed,” said Voorhees, a 73-year-old retired lawyer.
“I feel okay about everything,” she told ABC.
“I did have a long time with her and I feel the end was as perfect as it can be without morbidity. She just loved me to pieces and was clearly devoted to me.”
Voorhees bought Tiffany Two, a black and orange tortoiseshell, in 1988 when she was just a 6-week-old kitten. She picked her up from a San Diego, Calif., pet store minutes before it closed for the day.
“I paid $10, and I always say that was the best investment I ever made,” Voorhees said to ABC. “We’re inseparable. She gets very emotional when I pet her. She drools.”
The cat was named after another tortoiseshell Voorhees owned in the 1970s. The first Tiffany died of cancer.
Most cats have an average life expectancy of 13-17 years, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Despite her age, Guinness reported that Tiffany Two was in good health as recently as February.
“She's not afraid of anything or anyone,” Voorhees stated. “She walks right past the dogs. She’s very feisty.”
Voorhees got in touch with Guinness World Records in 2014 after her sister noticed the record for oldest living cat was held by Poppy, a 24-year-old English feline who passed away in June 2014.
However, Tiffany Two wasn’t the oldest cat ever, according to Guiness World Records — Cream Puff, an Austin, Tex., cat born in 1967, died just three days after turning 38.
