Yakubu Dogara
Honourable Yakubu Dogara has emerged the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 8th Assembly. Dogara from Bauchi State beat Femi Gbajabiamila, a representative from Surulere, Lagos State.
Hon. Yakubu Dogara polled 182 votes to edge out Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila who garnered 174 votes.
They are both members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
A total of 356 lawmakers took part in the exercise.
Dogara was later sworn in by the Clerk of the National Assembly.
