Yaradua and GEJ
Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani Kayode has claimed that former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s power projects were sabotaged by his successor Musa Yar’adua.
He spoke in reaction to recent accusation by President Muhammadu Buhari that Obasanjo used $16b on power project.
As stated by Fani-Kayode, Obasanjo never lavished $16 billion on power projects.
He told Channels TV that Obasanjo spent $3.4b on electrification of the country during his time.
In addition, he said the Obasanjo administration purchased 18 gas turbines, initiated the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) which the Yar’adua government killed just to discredit his predecessor.
He added that such projects were not continued with the Yar’adua government cooking up $16b as money spent on power by Obasanjo.
Fani-Kayode also accused the President Muhammadu Buhari government of trying to destroy the reputation of past leaders, describing it as a government that thrives on lies.
