Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State, yesterday, said the state was losing N2 billion yearly to ghost workers with active connivance of administrators, politicians and businessmen to ensure “control and retention” of the non-existent workers on the monthly payrolls of local councils.
The governor, who spoke while swearing in four members of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) in Damaturu, warned perpetrators to desist forthwith.
“My administration has surprisingly uncovered the culprits. Let me use this occasion to caution the perpetrators in the affected councils,” he said, warning that names of suspects would be made public before being prosecuted.”
