Residents of Ngojin and Nahuta communities in Yobe State have cried out over the untold hardship they have been facing since the collapse of a major bridge linking them to Potiskum, a popular town in the state.
As a result of the collapse of the bridge, residents have had to sometimes rely on donkeys and other informal means of transport to reach hospitals, markets and schools..
A resident of the area, Tikau Maria, said that they had been sending appeals to the authorities for urgent intervention however, nothing had been done till this moment.
He added that the collapse of the bridge had affected their livelihood and other daily activities..
He said, “We've been talking and appealing however, nothing has been done. We're appealing to Yobe State Government to intervene and rescue us from this increasing hardship.”.
The collapse of the bridge has also affected residents of other communities in the state including Lafiya, Gadamaji, Garin Gote, Jajere-Anguwar Fulani, Njafuwa, Garin Ardo, Tikau Maria, Zamani, Gandafura and Farsawa.
