Thirteen political parties in Bayelsa State on Thursday (24/09/15) adopted Governor Seriake Dickson as their sole candidate for the December 5 governorship election in the state.
The political parties under the aegis of the Inter-Party Advisory Council and the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties announced the adoption of Dickson in Yenagoa yesterday.
The political parties included the African Democratic Congress, Nigerian Peoples Democratic Party, Unity Party of Nigeria, Accord Party, Independent Democratic and Progressive Peoples Alliance.
Treasurer of IPAC and state chairman of the NNPDP, Inko Namatebe, explained that the parties adopted Dickson because of his sterling leadership qualities.
He stated with Dickson securing a second term, the state would remain in safe hands.
Namatebe stated the governor had performed very well in his first tenure, adding that it was only necessary that he is allowed to continue in office for another term.
He said, “One of the things that Governor Dickson has delivered on is security. In this regard, he has put in place a framework for data gathering in an organised and empirical manner.”
Namatebe listed other areas in which Dickson had made modest achievements as education, infrastructure, diversification of the state economy, tourism, health and human capacity development.
He stated others included promotion of good governance, judiciary, transport, agriculture, power and sports development.
He added, “If one person in a single term is able to achieve these developmental strides, what else do ‘Bayelsans’ want if not to return our governor for a second term?
“We urge all and sundry to support Dickson for a second term in office because Bayelsa will remain in safe hands.”
