Well, that’s unfortunate; the angry-sounding Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 prototype we showed you yesterday came in contact with Nurburgring’s protective barrier and a camera was there to capture the moment. From what we can see, either the driver came in a little too hot or the brakes of the development prototype failed to work properly, resulting in crashing on the outside barrier and putting Chevrolet’s plans to a halt.

Depending on which report you want to believe, the track-ready version of the new Camaro is expected to use either the Corvette Z06-sourced small block 6.2-litre V8 with 640hp or a naturally aspirated unit with same cylinder count, combined with a lighter body and a chassis tuned for maximum performance.

The aggressive aero agenda probably means that the new Z/28 will also offer high levels of downforce in a bid to outrun its arch-nemesis, the Ford Mustang GT350R.

This is the second time in a month we see a prototype crashed on the German track, with Audi’s testers having an unfortunate moment with a camouflaged TT RS about a month ago. Fortunately both the driver and the passenger in the Camaro Z/28 escaped unharmed according to the uploader of the video linked below.
