29-year-old fashion designer, Ajaero Okechukwu Kingsley, has been arrested by men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for possession of 44 wraps of substances which tested positive for cocaine, weighing 850 grammes.
The arrest was made at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, during the inward screening of passengers on a Qatar Airline flight as he was arriving from Sao Paulo.
In his defense, Ajaero stated he was a first time drug trafficker initiated by friends. As stated by him, he was to get 30,000 euros as profit after dropping it off for his business partner while on transit in Qatar. When the stated business partner failed to show up at the designated place, he was forced to excrete 30 wraps on board the aircraft, while he came to Nigeria with the left over.
Meanwhile, the NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Ahmadu Giade, informed that the agency would continue to pay more attention to passengers coming from Brazil as Brazil is a source country for cocaine, adding that all those who seek to enrich themselves through drug trafficking shall be arrested and prosecuted.
