Imagine you had an uncle who grants you the keys of his classic Porsche 911 Turbo, just because he wants the car to stay with a fellow enthusiast.
This is the story of Deryck Shakespeare, owner of this beautiful 1978 Porsche 911 Turbo, told in the latest Petrolicious video.
“My uncle was really ill at the time, unfortunately,” he says. “Yeah, he was going to die, basically, and he rang me up from the hospital and said, ‘Look, wondering if you want my car”.
Keeping a car like this in the family requires massive dedication as prices for air-cooled Porsches have reached ridiculous levels in the classic car market however, Deryck is determined to keep the car until his son, Elvis, comes of age to grab the keys from him.
Only 28 of these beautiful, scary cars were brought into Australia in 1978 and several haven’t survived.
This one though is in very good hands.
