A fire outbreak has destroyed a large number of farmlands and farm produce in Oguagburo Akri community in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State.
The fire, which was caused by the gas flaring explosion at the AGIP flow station on February 3, has caused the indigenes of the community to cry out for government's intervention.
An indigene of the community said that the major activities of the people of the community is farming, stressing that they are slowly losing their livelihood.
The residents of the community converged on the flow station to express their anger.
As stated by them, the explosion occurred as a result of the malfunctioning of the gas flaring tunnel of the flow station.
The villagers also lamented that many cassava and plantain farms were burnt while fish ponds were dried up.
They alleged that in spite of their plight, the company appeared not to care about them.
