As it builds up to launching the new 7-Series based B7, the acclaimed tuned has announced its impressive sales results.

In 2015, which also marked its 50th anniversary, Alpina shifted just over 1,600 vehicles, 600 of which found homes in the firm's native country.

In a statement, chief executive Andreas Bovensiepen said “There is a steady interest in sophisticated and individual small series automobiles. Our products constantly receive excellent press reviews for their technology and handling. The awareness for BMW Alpina models is growing, and we're proud of our customers’ feedback.”

Among the most popular models were the B5 Bi-turbo and B6 Bi-turbo Edition 50 models, each restricted to 50 units and all selling quickly, particularly to customers in Germany and Japan.

Another important model for the company has been the XD3. A total of 248 units were delivered around the world after the model was updated and redesigned following the launch of the facelifted BMW X3. Its popularity makes sense, given that it is powered by a 3.0-liter straight-six twin-turbo diesel engine with 345 hp and 516 lb-ft of twisting power.

Elsewhere in Alpina's range, the D3 and B3 models sold just over 500 units together, while 280 examples of the B6 Gran Coupe were delivered.
