The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked rumours that the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) primary election has been annulled and a fresh election is being planned, saying that the party’s substantive candidate for remained Hon. Abdullahi Candido.
The party's FCT Publicity Secretary, Engineer Adaji Usman, during a press briefing confirmed Candido as the party substantive candidate for the coming FCT election.
He explained that the primary election was duly conducted, with all the processes done transparently and was free and fair for every qualified contestant to participate.
As stated by him, Candido did not get the party ticket on a platter and appealed to other members of the party in the council to rally round the party’s candidate to succeed during the FCT council elections.
“There is this rumour being spread around by some unscrupulous elements that the last concluded primary election in the council has been nullified and a fresh election is to be held. I want to say that as the image maker of APC in the FCT and behalf of the party that the rumour is false and should be disregarded by the public.
“As far as we are concerned, the primaries has been held and the winner has emerged. We are already in the process of perfecting all the necessary documents for the purpose of handling over the flag to fly the party’s programme for the election in March 2016.
“I want to say that there has never been any transparent primary election than the one we just concluded. Because, it was done in the presence the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials, security personnel, journalists, national and state executives of the party. So, there cannot be more transparent election,” he stated.
