The heavyweight champion is still waiting to announce his next bout but, rather than taking on David Haye or Tyson Fury, he could face a rather less intimidating opponent
Dele Alli may have landed Eric Dier in a spot of bother, having challenged heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua to a bout on his Tottenham team-mate’s behalf.
The runaway favourite to land the Premier League Young Player of the Year award performed the social media equivalent of a hospital pass to his midfield partner, posting a clip of Dier during a boxing session work-out.
In a move almost as cheeky as his flick over the head of Mile Jedinak, Alli also tagged Commonwealth, British and WBC International heavyweight champion Joshua in the post, and it did not take long for him to respond.
The Olympic gold medallist, who is famously an Arsenal fan, is still waiting to announce his next opponent after ruthlessly dispatching of Dillian Whyte in his last outing in the ring.
But with a little help from “promoter” Alli, Joshua may have found a worthy adversary in the form of midfield enforcer Dier – although we’re not convinced he would stand much of a chance against the heavyweight champion despite his quick hands!
