Chief Victor Umeh, former National Chairman, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has urged the Federal Government to implement the National Conference resolutions to reduce tension in the country.

Umeh made the call while speaking to newsmen in Awka, Anambra, on Thursday.

He stated that the implementation of the recommendations was necessary because the country was still in search of peace.

“The National Conference of 2014 handled exhaustively, issues that threaten the nationhood of Nigeria; the various resolutions reached took care of most of the things people are clamouring for.

“If the President truly wants to build a peaceful and united country, he should revisit that document and make use of the resolutions to address the issues threatening stability of the country,” he stated.

Umeh, however, warned against seeking peace through threat and suppression of dissenting views.

He called on Christians to use Christmas celebrations to pray for peace in Nigeria and for the elimination of all forms of threat to human existence across the world.

“Peace is eluding the world; what we should do is to remain prayerful, in a place like Nigeria,” he stated.
