Apple today responded to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) attorneys’ reply to Apple’s motion to vacate an order to help the FBI unlock San Bernardino shooter Syed Rizwan Farook’s iPhone.

“This case arises in a difficult context after a terrible tragedy. However, it is in just such highly-charged and emotional cases that the courts must zealously guard civil liberties and the rule of law and reject government overreaching. This Court should therefore deny the government’s request and vacate the order,” lawyers representing Apple wrote in the filing.

Apple clearly seems to have been rubbed the wrong way by the tone of the DOJ’s filing the previous week. ” The government’s brief assails Apple’s intentions and motivations. We do not intend to react in kind,” the lawyers wrote.
