Abuja Police Command on Thursday arraigned one Agba Frances, 24, an applicant, in a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates' Court for theft.
The prosecutor, Cpl. John Onuche, told the court that on May 18, one Abdulaziz Muhammed of Gwarimpa, reported the matter at the Wuse police station.
As stated by him, the accused, while on queue for fuel, put his hand in the complait's car and picked his blackberry phone.
The prosecutor said that the accused person sold the phone that was valued at N42, 000 to an unknown person for N17, 000.
Onuche said that the offence contravened section 287 of Penal Code Law.
The prosecutor said that the offence is punishable prison term up to five, with option of fine or both.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The senior magistrate, Christopher Oba, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000 and a surety in like sum.
He stated that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
The case was adjourned till June 24, for hearing.
