Bolaji Olayinka, 31, on Thursday was arraigned before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates' Court in Lagos for alleged threat to life, a breach of public peace and stealing N150,000.

The 31-year-old, who resides at 44 Oloto St., Ebute Meta, Lagos State, is facing a four-count charge of violence, manner likely to cause a breach of the peace, stealing and unlawful attempt to kill.

The prosecutor, Insp. Richard Odigie, told the court that the accused committed the offences on May 6, at Oloto St., Ebute Meta.

Odigie said that the accused and the complait, one Iyabo Akanbi, were known to each other.

Odigie, however, said that the accused had before the day of the attack been threatening the complait.

“Bolaji had, on the day of the incident, traced the complait to her residence and ordered that she handed over to him all the proceeds she had made for the day," he stated.

“When Iyabo attempted to shout for help, the accused grabbed her, and subsequently stabbed her both in the neck and on the head before making away with her N150, 000” , he stated.

Odigie said that the offences contravened Sections 156, 228, 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

Chief Magistrate O.I. Adelaja granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

Adelaja then adjourned the case till July 1 for further hearing.
