Comrade Issa Aremu. ThisDay
Former Deputy National President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Issa Aremu has declared to contest the Kwara State Governor seat on the platform of the Labour Party during the 2019 general elections.
Speaking in Ilorin on Wednesday on the sidelines of the 100th birthday anniversary of the late President of South Africa, Dr Nelson Mandela, Aremu said he would reinvent Kwara state, lamenting what he referred to as the lack of development and bad governance in the state.
The labour leader said the state needed a governor who would be independent-minded and take wise decisions without being lorded over by a godfather.
Aremu stated that young people should be properly engaged and empowered through employment creation and skill development, instead of being given cars which they could use for crime.
He called on Kwara residents to vote wisely in 2019 and choose leaders that would move the state forward.
